Camping in the Cold

Friday afternoon, we set out on an adventure . . .

to Lake Lanier.

We met 8 other families in our homeschool group

at Old Federal campsite

and braved the cold!

It was so windy, it looked like our tent was a hot-air balloon

ready to take off at any moment.

Across from our site was a shelter with grills

so we could gather and be a little more protected from the elements.
We had veggie burgers and green beans for supper.
Later, we fought the smoke around a campfire to roast
marshmallows!


Saturday, in spite of drizzling rain,
the kids got out and played.


The camper in the background did not belong to anyone in
our group. We were all roughing it in tents!

Josiah lost a glove, so he improvized by

using his hat.Although check-out was not until 3:00,

most families, including ours,

left before lunchtime.

It was good to socialize,

but the temperature and rain

was beginning to get to us.
Lady came with us since this was a dog-friendly site.

She did very well and served as a miniature

heater in my sleeping bag.

We hope to go to this campground again

under better conditions someday.
