What We Did on the 4th

Just in case you were wondering, we went to Six Flags. I bet you're thinking it was crowded. No.
I bet you think we paid alot of money. No. I bet you're thinking it was too hot. Well, uh, it was kind of hot.

As a matter of fact, Six Flags is less crowded on July 4th (but don't tell anyone, this is our little secret, okay). To keep cost down, the children took part in a Reading Program offered by Six Flags that encourages kids to read and they earn their tickets by doing hours and hours of reading (plus, their teacher gets a free ticket, too). We also saved money on food and drinks by doing the following
  • pack a brunch and eat it just before entering at 10:30
  • purchase one "all you can drink" cup and share it (we actually have to buy 2, because we have one who can only drink diet drinks - yuck) or you can bring your own container and they will fill it with ice and water for free!
  • take along an energy bar for each person and consume that for lunch
  • when the hungries hit for good, around 3:00, eat at Las Banderas (great mexican food - split one meal between two people, because it's alot of food)
  • by the time that meal wears off, 6-7:00, leave the park, head home, and if you must, get some fast food (it's cheaper than what's in the park, anyway)
To stay cool, you just have to get wet, or carry a dampened towel with you. Don't forget sunscreen and possibly a hat.
Have fun!
